Charles Oppermann is 25-year veteran of software design. He is the original author of the popular JAWS screen reader for people with visual impairments, and spent over a decade at Microsoft working on accessibility and user experience in the Windows, Internet Explorer and speech product groups.

Charles represented Microsoft accessibility efforts to the W3C and the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), where he contributed to the User Agent and Web Content Authoring Guidelines. He is the lead inventor of multiple patents and author of two technical books published by Microsoft Press, including the popular Microsoft Windows Active Directory Programming title.

In addition to Microsoft, Charles has worked at Amazon.com, Cisco Systems, GFI/ThreatTrack Security, and currently manages a diverse team of developers in the Tampa Bay region.
