when toggle format what by license comment
Aug 31, 2012 at 16:57 comment added JeroenEijkhof @msanford, even if it logically could be tied to the act of filling out a form it can also be associated with so many other acts and most notably a clipboard - copy-paste
Aug 28, 2012 at 20:57 comment added msanford @JeroenEijkhof Which of the two that I suggested are you referring to, or are you referring to the idea of paper-and-pen in general? I made the clipboard-and-pencil suggestion based on the OP's question edit, which suggested that he is requesting his users to fill out a form. I would wager that the clipboard is quite closely linked to the idea of a form...
Aug 28, 2012 at 18:51 comment added JeroenEijkhof I think this icon is used for to many other things as well and wouldn't be clear enough at all.

Aug 26, 2012 at 3:37 comment added Anna Rouben I would be curious to see if users can distinguish quickly edit icon from a clipboard. I think pencil is a strong edit metaphor so when users see anything with pencil they just think "edit" right away. Little clipboard details might be ignored. I am hypothesizing :)

Added clipboard.
Aug 24, 2012 at 15:22 comment added msanford Good point @TJH: that could be mitigated by styling the form as a clipboard, which my gut tells me is recognizable as a metaphor for a survey, rather than 'edit this content'.
Aug 24, 2012 at 15:20 comment added TJH What do you think about the 'Edit' connotations?
