A more specific term commonly used to describe the application of human-centred design processes to a product (can be physical or digital) as opposed to a service, which can incorporate a range of user/customer touch points.

Product design focuses on the actual experience of using the product, not including the experience of the upstream or downstream processes involved as it belongs to a service that is being provided to the user/customer in order for the product to be made available.
