I am designing Native iOS Enterprise Application. The application has Grids in few modules. Each row in a grid has actions.

I need thoughts on how to handle the row actions

For example: Folders are listed in Grid. Each row represent 1 Folder and the folder specific actions are Upload Files, New Folder, Delete Folder, Share Folder. User can tap the Folder name to view files inside the Folder.

  1. Can I group all the actions in "..." icon ?
  2. Can I show actions when user do left swipe gesture on a row (actions can be More, Upload Files and Share). When user tap More, remaining actions will be shown. This model is similar to how iOS Mail Exchange has handled row actions as gestures.

If we are going with 2, should 'Delete Folder' be shown upfront rather hiding inside More actions on left swipe.

  • What are the metrics around most and least used actions? – Igorek Oct 22 '15 at 17:22
  • How about using the system long-press menu (i.e. the one with the "Cut," "Copy," and "Paste" options)? See this Stack Overflow question for details on how to implement it. – J F Nov 18 '15 at 21:11
