I'm trying to improve my skills in running Q&A's and writing case studies of people so I can fundamentally answer questions about what features are needed, and why.

The problem I'm having is finding / contacting / selecting people to interview.

How do you find and select the right people to do this? Are there any tricks to speeding this process up?

  • Obviously understanding who your user will be will help you select people. If what your designing is for general public(users can be anyone with internet access). I would ask family, friends, co-workers etc. – Casey Robinson Sep 14 '15 at 20:18

What you asked sounds like a question that a novice might ask, and that's OK with me. The challenge for novices is that they don't know the terms or jargon, and don't know the relative importance of the concepts and the process, so they have trouble formulating a question.

To get you started, search Bing for recruiting participants for user research or search Google for recruiting participants for user research. After you read a few articles, you can refine your question, and then you'll get lots of great help from people on this site.
