We have a mobile app with a regular header (filters, search, etc.) and a results listview at the bottom (fyi the icon to the right is not the real icon).

I like how the app looks and I don't want to change anything, but I want to add some color to the header. I'm including the screenshot of the app. I prefer painting the header and using a lighter tone of the same color in the Search box.

The problem I'm having is that I don't know what colors to add to the header, and I don't want to test. I prefer looking at time-tested alternatives and selecting something from there.

So the other day I thought I had found the perfect combination, as I had seen it in another very-popular mobile app. I've been looking at this combination many times and I was liking it every time. But then today I realized its colors are very similar to facebook. So obviously I won't use them.

I've been searching on the web for examples, but haven't found anything that I like.

How can I select a nice combination of colors without having to test for combinations? Ideally, I would prefer browsing through a mobile app gallery/showcase, but I haven't found any.

  • Does your organization have a defined brand? Does it include colors? Nov 16, 2022 at 22:59
  • Of course you will have a lot of trouble finding a suitable color, there are 16,000,000 colors in a computer palette. I think you should start by indicating what the theme of the application is, what is its objective, what audience is it directed to, what is the sales strategy, if there is one... Very different from what you suggest in the question, the choice of a color is not something subjective
