I'm designing a in-app live chat agent support UX. In the situation that a message wasn't sent to the agent, there will be a micro error message below the chat bubble with the resend option.

my question is, after the user resends the message and it is sent successfully, should there be a micro message to confirm that it was sent. Another reason i'm asking this is my current requirement doesn't need to have a micro message for every message that was sent. So wouldn't it be too much information adding this confirmation in this case?

Amen, just see how Skype behaves when you send a message in offline. As for confirmation of the message did sent, it's an expected behavior, and the single receive time is both useful and clear confirmation. You have no this until a message have sent. Mar 24, 2020 at 11:46

It seems like the default behaviour for the app is that there is no 'success' message or status.

The design system for many applications define when the notification and messaging to users happen on the interface, and how to display them in a consistent manner. So the best practice is to be consistent so that your users don't have to figure out what something means without any other reference or explanation.

I think if there is a status for the sent state (e.g. the tick mark in WhatsApp), then you would simply replace the micro message with it. If there isn't a visual indicator for the sent state (which means by default it is assumed to be successful), then you would simply remove the micro message.
