I’ve seen quite a few apps have a face detection smile to confirm or submit feature lately. This usually comes along with a button to do the action if you can’t or don’t want to smile or if the user just wants to get on with it. I am wondering if this is good UI UX and if there are any other people around here who’s had experience with designing or developing this feature. So my question is, will it give good user experience and will it be worth implementing.

  • Weird.. I've never heard of a smile-as-confirmation function. Sounds like one of those April Fool's Day pranks Google would implement for 48 hours. – maxathousand Jun 5 '19 at 15:09
  • Can you show us examples? not sure what the smiling detection is used for. – Nicolas l Open to work Jun 5 '19 at 16:29
  • "will it give good user experience and will it be worth implementing," impossible to answer without knowing the who, why and how of the suggested use. Would I smile at my phone to send an email - more unlikely but possible, an app to teach kids to use a mailing application - sure, fun way to get them involved. – DarrylGodden Jun 6 '19 at 14:47
