If there are only a hand full of comments on a page loading them all and pointing the user to his reply is not a problem, but if there are a lot of comments loading them all seems like a problem.

Is upon redirecting a good idea to load the reply on top of the page so the user can see it first ?

  • Have a look at how our own Stack Exchange chat room handles this: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/389/ux-chat There's the standard free-flowing chat window but also in the right-hand side a set of links to older comments. Clicking these takes you to a static 'transcript' version of that comment in context. but without the free-loading commenting that is present in the main chat process. – JonW Jan 31 at 10:40
