comment Should subscriptions with a pre-pay model charge overage or renew early?
Typically, no, overage is extra, for example: algolia.com/pricing -- and no, let's suppose service disruption is not an option (I think I said this in the question, let me know if I am misunderstanding you or need to be clearer).

Definitely the most direct and thorough answer so far about the actual UX! Didn't know about some of those little features they built in related to this.

Interesting! I guess apps have to support that kind of viewport sizing then. In my opinion, though, zooming the window to full the screen would be a bigger win than not having extra whitespace. Maybe it's just a matter of preference.

@DanielGibbs BetterSnapTool. It's slightly glitchy with multiple monitors sometimes but for the most part works pretty well.

comment Should “Yes, delete it” be red, or green?
When you hover over one of the buttons, switch the colors. That'll do the trick.

comment Why do address forms ask for the US state?
Plus, many people don't know the ZIP code. They may not be entering their own address. Even if they know the rest of the address, the ZIP code can be appended. We just assume ZIP codes are localized to a particular area.

comment Should US State be a dropdown or text field
@cimmanon What if the dropdown has states formatted like "MN - Minnesota" or just "MN" instead of "Minnesota"? Then they won't find it and have to start over.

comment Should US State be a dropdown or text field
@cimmanon Unless users know how the field is formatted (e.g. "NV - Nevada" or just "Nevada"), it's slower. They have to guess, and if they guess wrong, they have to start typing over again, because browsers will persist the keystrokes as they "type into" an entry, that turns out doesn't exist. I don't even know how to tell the browser to "forget" my previous keystrokes in a dropdown and start over from the beginning without using the mouse, or tabbing away, then shift+tabbing back.
