comment How does “upload an image” behave in a Responsive Design environment?
This would be better suited for stackoverflow. I'd say it probably depends on how the plugin is written, but in the last responsive web app I did, we left mobile out because it wasn't done automatically.

comment How can I keep up-to-date with the latest thinking about designing complex, rich applications?
I always keep an eye on what Google is doing. I think it works as an example of complex applications functioning together.

comment how to indicate 'what a venue is like right now'
Then you don't need a thumb down, you only need the thumb up or similar 'positive' icon.

The main goal of your app is for users to say if they would find it interesting or not?

comment Is coffee a good excuse for a slow application start-up time?
I don't drink coffee and I'd say 40% of my co-workers don't either, maybe it's a regional bias, but it's enough to make me feel alienated and disgruntled :P

comment Is coffee a good excuse for a slow application start-up time?
I couldn't find any for software. But there are lots of resources for web response time, and they might have elements in common (example strongeye.com/blog/2012/6/15/…)

comment What is the name of this UI message element/dialog?
If I had to do a search I would definitely use "html tooltip"
