I do Technical Support for two businesses; a small ISP and a large University. On the side I run a Minecraft server, fiddle in various Linux distros, and program (mostly Ruby).

comment Which is the best way to select a language from 400 possibilities?
@PauGiner How do you indicate to the user that there are other possibilities if the first 6 you offer aren't enough? You can't assume they know English to use the phrase 'More Choices'.

Quick question: do we know the language the viewer reads? In other words, must this interface be completely language agnostic? There are use cases either way (English user choosing a language vs unknown user selecting interface language)

comment Content Strategy to Avoid Duplicated Pages
I don't think there is any harm at all in having two views of the same product, at least unless there are some unmentioned oddities of the site.

You have already done the thing I would recommend... flexible text search. I can find no fault in your described implementation though there could be unmentioned details that are sub-par.

comment Are there numbers and letters to avoid for activation codes via SMS?
Good catch, though it had never come up yet in our case. It does help that we display our passwords in a fixed font for clarity, so the rn = m ambiguity has never hit us. But I have certainly seen that happen in other situations.

comment Should 'Home' be included in website breadcrumbs?
I don't think it matters much. If you don't have another link to go Home, putting in the breadcrumbs is painless and easy. If you do, then that link might be a bit wasteful but is unlikely to be harmful. I would include the Home link if your users tend to accomplish multiple tasks per visit. If your users almost exclusively do a single task then leave, having a button dedicated to 'starting over' is not very valuable.

comment How would you solve the accidentally-launching problem of the Mac OS dock?
This is exactly what I said; it is on the app developer side, the OS cannot assume a program launch can be aborted. In this case the Office team coded in launch canceling; that doesn't mean the Windows OS team can.
