I'm a 70's baby. I'm a geek, in the best sense of the word.
I've progressed "up the communications stack" (think the TCP/IP stack) over the past 14 years:
- I studied electronic engineering
- I spent years wrestling with search engine spiders analysing web traffic before it was called Web Analytics
- I built and tested opto-electronic circuitry in chemistry research, then integrated those circuitry with Lego Mindstorms on MIT Media Lab projects
- I spent 5 years working in systems, network and infrastructure administration for various IT and Internet companies
- I spent 7 years working in mobile telecommunications services building mobile Internet networks.
- I am now working in information architecture, interaction design and human computer systems (HCI).
My favourite word is why. I'm skeptical. I like the outdoors, but live in cities.
I ride my bike, take photographs, travel as much as possible, drink good wine and eat good food, and talk too much.

What fonts are good and which ones should we avoid for our application's UI? If you have any users with dyslexia, you might like to look at the Dyslexie font |

Which is easier to use: List of people sorted by FirstName, LastName or LastName, FirstName? ...except, of course, in countries where the culture is to have two surnames (for example Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries) - the surname of the father and the mother: - If Juan José Aguilar marries Anita Pena Callas, their child would have a name something like Pedro Aguilar Pena. |

How to archive paper prototypes and physical objects from design process? Hi, can you expand a bit on the pattern library idea? I am speaking about physical objects specifically. Patternry (while it looks interesting) seems to be for code? How can I use this for paper prototypes and sketches? |

How to archive paper prototypes and physical objects from design process? Hi @JohnGB, thanks. Are your paper prototypes shared with developers, or product managers, etc? Mine are, so I am not sure if I could just throw them away. I like the scan step. Also, about the "sleeve/box" - are they stored "away" safe, or in the office so others can reference them? Are they annotated in any way? thanks |

Whats the best way to represent private pages in an information architecture map? True I suppose. Anything by Jessie James Garret gets my vote for a good answer. :) I've removed the good answer (sorry dhmholley) to see if anyone else answers. But it was good for me. |

Whats the best way to represent private pages in an information architecture map? Excellent! Thanks very much for the link. I had sorta used a similar approach (shaded background container), but didn't think about the security error branch.. |
