comment Is it ok to require certain users to have JavaScript enabled?
@MonicaCellio I'd have to agree with this. I think most of the time the people who have this installed and are actually more user savy. These are also people that will most likely have an up to date browser installed. Javascript that is used for the UI is used to replicate things that can now be done in HTML5. So, if i had to choose to code in HTML5 or javascript, i would choose javascript right now to cater more to the non savy users.

@MarjanVenema You don't have to. I don't even know why you posted that comment. I don't understand why so many people on this website assume the worst is going happen when you don't understand whats going on. All i asked was input on the UI, I didn't ask for your opinion, i asked for a non-subjective answer.

Yea, it doesn't jump right into this question. This information is not required, but it is required to make full use of the website. This information is not even shown publicly and it's made pretty clear that, that's the case. What you are saying is basically what i am thinking. Basically, if you go to google maps and start typing a place, this is exactly what I am talking about, except for the fact the map would be shown after they selected the place.

comment Is Amazon's layout good or bad from a UX and conversion optimization POV?
I for one hate hate hate amazon's layout. I still shop there, but only if i know exactly what i want. Overall i find it very displeasing. Amazon is one of those special websites. I wouldn't follow their layout.

Yea town/city may be close enough, but with what I am using this data for, it may also be very far off. Like i said, it needs to be as accurate as possible. I don't need an address, but like the hospital they were born at would be fine, as long as it's close. In most situations it won't matter as much, but there will be some cases where it really does matter. That's why i was thinking of doing what you said, asking for city/town/hospital (any of these) and let google do the searching. Then plot a point on a map to make sure it's close to where they were born.

comment Is this hard to read?
I'm not colorblind, but this hurts my eyes. It's just too loud. You can have green, but not that much. Make it whiter by lightening the green and it will probably be just fine.

comment How to discover what users NEED and not what they WANT?
Nice, If i ever get a client that needs something similar, ill just say I know exactly what to do :p I'm just always curious on how people solve problems, because you never know when you will be in that situation yourself and what's better than taking advice from someone who has already been there?

You left me hanging, you can't do that. What did you end up using?

comment How to tell the user his login credentials are incorrect?
I personally like the combo. Makes me fell warm and fuzzy. This means people just can't put in an email and see if it exists. This happened on facebook and people got pissed about it.

comment Why is it impossible to deselect HTML “radio” inputs?
jsfiddle.net/f4vXj/2 from stackoverflow.com/questions/2117538/… I don't recommend this though, I've never heard of anyone try to "uncheck" a radio button. But if that's what your client wants, then give it to them. They will be the only ones that knows how it works though.

after some consideration, i think i like this answer. While a lot of the other posts said the same thing here, it wasn't quite as complete. I think i will create a time input like the windows input as you have above and what was mentioned elsewhere and get the locale, defaulting to AM/PM, since this is a web app(javascript could be blocked), only way to get that info is from javascript and maybe html5

@user9109 i should have mentioned this is a web form. So getting locale may not be 100% accurate.
