Personally I find dropless awkwards, but the full/half containers are really brilliant!

comment How to prevent users using your app while driving?
@EvilClosetMonkey wrong. "Don't" is a perfectly good answer. (it may be a bad answer for other reasons, but this is not one of them)

comment Search vs. Look Up
@BrianS this is very short-term. If you deliver a bad product, doesn't matter if it's bad due to client's choices, neither him nor other people will ask you for more. The key is thinking in advance about this kind of situation, and forcing a client to accept that you are the professional and you take the decisions.

comment When a star-rating is right-aligned, should I fill the stars from right as well?
Please wait until the stars are aligned in order to successfully summon an Old One

comment Why do washing machines have windows?
I guess it's also for historic reasons. Washing mashines were invented earlier, when people didn't know well (hence trust) technology, so you had to look at what was going on inside. Dish waters came later, when washing machines were already common and "accepted", so no need for a window.

@Bluewater we are not "in a setting were you test an application with a regular user", though.

comment Should “Yes, delete it” be red, or green?
@Bluewater an "emergency stop" is, again, something associated with danger, so it's normal it's red.

@JessicaYang like love, communism and protagonist/first? Still power-related.

@wjl colorblind != red/green colorblind.

While this is correct in general, this specific color-choice for the cancel button, makes me think the button is unabled.

comment Should “Yes, delete it” be red, or green?
@JonW nope, red is associated with danger, so they will think twice. This answer is just correct, not sure why you're bashing it.

comment Should “Yes, delete it” be red, or green?
@RoddyoftheFrozenPeas (1) while some degrees of color blindness are quite common, thinking that 10% of men are red/green color blind is totally insane, (2) solely using a color to point out something is bad for color blinds, but if the color is something "extra" on top of the main information, then it's perfectly fine. I'm quite surprised and worried that your horribly wrong comment managed to raise 4 votes...

@Charles: but I need to memorise anyway the bank site password, so It's no extra memorisation needed.

comment Credit Card input format
@Charles: the url is bookmarked, the user saved and I remember the password. Much faster and easier than taking out the card from the wallet from the purse, then copying it, checking if it's correct, etc.

comment What are the best practices for background images?
However if CSS3 supports gradients he could just use a transparent image and set the underlying color via CSS.
