What are the items? Seems almost more like a "dismiss" action than "delete" if the items aren't immediately/eventually removed

comment What do you call a layout of non-regular non-overlapping tiles?
Thanks to Google + I want to call it "cards" but that's not quite right. It's certainly a rising trend, and it's well beyond the point where it can be called just "pinterest like"

This seems visually similar but I've never seen the term applied to a UI.

Fixed @JonW's link thanks to Kathy E Gill on twitter Images are still broken but the article's titled "Taking a ride with carousels" and the text is all intact.

comment Alternatives to “Like”, “+1”, “Bookmark”, and “Favorite”?
Never been a big fan of this pattern, I've noticed Buzzfeed uses it. Just seems to splinter reactions into something harder to sort by (no universal "quality" metric). I'd want to be very sure you need all those emotions/statements as opposed to a binary choice or a rating scale.

comment Why to go with and when to use the “friend” or “follow” strategy?
I honestly don't know what it does on Deviant Art, I assume it's just a categorization for your sake.

As a sidenote, I find it very odd that Deviant Art basically has both systems; you have to "watch" to get updates, but there's a checkbox for "friend". I find it annoying that the box is prepopulated because, at least as a passive user, I'm basically never friends with the artist.

comment Why don’t we remove door handles and let doors open both ways (inwards, outwards)?
Are you talking about revolving or plain handleless doors? Handleless doors settle to the closed position unless locked open, you just let them close themselves. I'm pretty sure revolving doors simply lock in place if needed for security.
