Menu bar for different major windows I meant, that for each toolbar action there also should be a menu item which does the same action. |

OS X: what menu bar to show when a modal dialog is shown Do I understand you correctly, that the parent menu bar should remain visible when a parent-modal dialog is shown (e.g. sheet - sometimes it makes sense to not use a sheet), but its menu items be disabled which are not applicable in the context of the dialog (e.g. keep those enabled which allow to open another top-level window)? |

Menu bar for different major windows Regarding your toolbar suggestion: shouldn't each toolbar item have a menu item pendant? |

Menu bar for different major windows We are developing a cross-platform application. If we design a all-in-one menu bar, we should split it for the other OS, right? |

OS X: what menu bar to show when a modal dialog is shown Why not being able to open a new (main) window if a parent modal dialog (AKA sheet) is shown? |

Max OS X Lion: Two Buttons “Highlighted” by Default—what? For me this looks like a bug: such a dialog should IMHO set the initial focus to the default button. |

Menu bar for different major windows Hm, (I don't know your mentioned MS products) but modes usually are considered to be bad. Finally, the application has different windows and not one operating in different modes. |

Should our application ask for users master password when needed or at application start? Your 1st point: it might be that there is no window displayed at all. Your last point: storing credentials without a master-password is possible, but less secure. |
