Examples of placebos in UI design? Take a look at, for example, syntevo.com/smartgit/download.html (after having the license accepted). There a meta redirect works fine for me without adding a rule in NoScript. |

Traffic lights: why yellow before green? If the US users would have the yellow light, they could start to press the gas pedal at yellow and release the brake pedal when the red goes off. ;) (Of course this would require the usage of both feet) |

Traffic lights: why yellow before green? Flashing green lights are not available, for example, in Germany (but e.g. in Austria). |

Traffic lights: why yellow before green? @MonicaCellio: you should not press the clutch for the whole red-phases because this will increase the wear of the clutch. It should be enough to hit the clutch and insert the first gear when the crossing pedastrian's traffic lights turn red. |

UI design with MINIMUM number of clicks Your checkboxes for Add, Edit and Delete look strange. They should be buttons (or links). |

How to indicate the word “interesting” with an icon? Thanos, do you mean because you are an iOS developer you can make good design? Is that the same argument woman use to proof that (just because they were pregnant) they inherently are the best people to teach their pre-school children? |

How to indicate the word “interesting” with an icon? Regarding the graphic designer: how to find an expert graphic designer? |

The right wording for “close” Your differentiation between Close and Cancel is IMHO incorrect: Close is used to close something (e.g. a dialog), even if something has been changed. Cancel is used to ignore changes done in the opened window. |

Examples of placebos in UI design? JavaScript is unnecessary; a delayed redirect works, too. |

Dialog asking to save changes when doing a selection change? Sure it would have 3 options, but I try to avoid the dialog at all on selection change. |

OS X: what menu bar to show when a modal dialog is shown Please take a look at the Calculator ( /Applications/Calculator.app) and select an item from the Convert menu. Of course, the menu bar remains visible and can be accessed. |

OS X: what menu bar to show when a modal dialog is shown Regarding avoid changing the menu bar at all: our application can show multiple top-level window for significantly different objects. I'm not sure it would be a good approach to merge everything into one stable menu bar (see also ux.stackexchange.com/questions/10251/…). |

OS X: what menu bar to show when a modal dialog is shown No, I'm using SWT and for SWT you have to define different menus for the application and for the windows (shells). |

OS X: what menu bar to show when a modal dialog is shown Imagine you have a parent-modal dialog open to input further details which are required to perform a command in the first top-level window. Why it should not be possible to open a new (second) top-level window to find this information easily or perform a different command? |
