It wasn't my own opinion. You gathered the evidence and statements that made me accept it.

I selected your answer because I truly believe the pattern was created due to the fact that you could't fit a reasonable amount of information (like an A4) into the resolutions that were mainstream for even 7-8 years ago.

That was correct until now... but now we have more touch gestures and more touch interfaces where it's easier to flick right and left, like people did for decaded when "scrolling" through books.

What about the essence of time? Do you think it works better from top to bottom or left to right for past-to-future conventions?

comment Rating control for iPhone world
My solution takes more space because in this specific context, the main purpose of the view is for the user to generate a rating and a review for a POI. They don't pay a secondary role in the interface, it's the main action.

comment Which case is good UX? A Peugeot VS BMW Story
@PhillipW this sounds utterly precise. I'm almost shocked that it describes the phenomenon so well. If you formulate this in an educative answer (for the rest) I'd be more than happy to upvote and accept it. Thank you very much.

@DA01 "Most folks.." is a generalization and most generalizations are false. In my country a vast majority of people are dumb enough not to... the percentage is so high, not wearing your seat belt is punished by law.
