comment What is the reason for small, lightly coloured text?
I added a few examples to illustrate that it is often the main content of the site which is grey, not secondary information.

comment About fullscreen scrolling webpages
The mediafire one is a bit better for scrolling, but still not perfect. There is some overlap of 'frames' when scrolling. And as another poster mentioned, the information density is so low as to be maddening!

comment Should a Landing Page tell the User how to Pronounce the Company's Name?
Does the website name start with the letter D and end with I? It might be one of my company's sites! If it's that one, the explanation is to highlight the pun in the name.

@funkylaundry: That looks more like an answer than a comment, go ahead and post it as such. If you can show that it addresses the colour examples in the OP, that would most certainly be the accepted answer.

I don't really need a half-sphere, but rather about a quarter of a circumference! There is no left-right issue that I am aware of.

Thank you. It seems that other colours are also affected, there are not 'just two' colours that I could test for or even just avoid. Thus, I would like to test, not guess, what needs fixing.

comment How can I make monochrome icons work?
You are 100% right Phil, thank you for bringing it up. I was not suggesting that colour alone should make the distinction, but rather that colour vs. grey is better than black vs. grey. And always test with simulated colour-blind settings in X (or however that is done in Windows).
