Agreed. But still, if product wants mobile they have to specifically ask for it. After they ask for it, UX needs to take it into account, then design, and in the end implementation. I still think it's a high level decision that has to be made regarding this.

Depends. If I am shopping for computer electronics and the menu contains baby product categories as well, then yes, maybe. Anything that is not useful immediately for me could just as well stay at the top of the page.

In this case, it's easier, faster and cheaper for the moment to log users in, because this will be a product that will be sold to other companies - which might or might not have the required capabilities to authenticate users internally.
