comment Mega Menu Width
I should add that the website is not for my company. We are designing for a third party and we are trying to cater all cases that they may go through and attempting to remove as many restrictions as possible!

Thanks Benny for your response. Unfortunately your solution doesn't work because the logo we are dealing with is ridiculously large and wide and our client's Branding requires that we deal with it. Your solution would cause a lot of empty space and would push the content down. We've already added a strip where login and search are available to the top of what I have shown you. But thanks for your input.

comment When client and server side validations occur, doesn't it make for a better UX to only do server validations?
Your client side validations only appear on submit? So if a user is filling out a form and tabbing from one field to the next, the client side validations don't appear then?

comment What UI/UX patterns do not “translate” well when localized to other languages?
Well the messages we had to deal with, for example for a Saudi intranet, had to do with both English and Arabic languages. I guess with English you can be slightly tougher, but for example, I had to actually lie once (in English) and say "The system is being restructured, please try again later" for a "You do not have access to this portal. Please request access from Ebusiness," because it was requested that it be done that way from the stakeholders!

comment 12 hr vs 24 hr time
Like I said, I am a fan of the 24 hour clock too. But it is my experience from clients and even friends that the general web populace prefers the 12 hour mode. As we do not have more information about the target audience of the website, I'm inclined to think of a more average user base, and hence the preference of a 12 hour clock. If the website is targeting people like engineers or travelling management consultants, etc then perhaps a 24 hour clock would be more suited to them. Until then, I believe a 12 hour clock is better!

Hi! I'm so sorry, I just saw that you asked that. Yes, culturally, saying you don't have permission to something is like belittling the person or pointing out that their level is lower than others. The message would have to be rephrased to something neutral like "This item is currently not available. Please refer to IT for more assistance." I actually was forced to almost lie in some messages by a client to do this!! Again, this is more an issue in the Arab Gulf than the rest of Arab countries as hierarchies and seniority are a lot more respected and considered there.

comment How should I indicate an added row of buttons above the iPad's keyboard is scrollable?
The dots that flip go against the scrolling horizontally, as they would have to go bunch by bunch..
