comment Is this site's colour scheme readable?
But the question raised specifically was readability. Other stuff I have others looking at. But I know I can come here and people won't spare me. Which is probably good.

comment What is the best way to inspire users to choose strong password?
Some version of a strength meter is the way to go. Hints about what makes for a strong password (if they can be relevant, ie. point out which features are poor, even better).

comment Is this site's colour scheme readable?
I was specifically asking for colours, because that is what I have struggled with before. Other comments are welcome.

comment Is this site's colour scheme readable?
The colours are intended to be close to black on white, but just off, so it is not so straining. The hover states I am not certain of either.

comment Is this site's colour scheme readable?
Any suggestion in the "intro" - it sort of matches what I want to do, but if it goes down badly, I will change it.

comment How do you communicate that UI is not the same as UX
Get right in their face and shout "UI AND UX ARE DIFFERENT THINGS, IDIOT" ;) Seriously, I sympathise, because a lot of clients are really able to appreciate the complexity of the new world where these things matter.

comment Recording Debit/Credit Card Details at the start of a 'Free Trial'?
That is what I meant by a cynical marketing tactic. Lots of people are put off, but they make money out of those who aren't. There are many people in business who assume that if they are making money then everything must be OK. The fact that serious investment in good quality UX might make them more money eventually, does not always balance off against the immediate costs. I worked for one client whose site was hideous, but they were making millions so they didn't mind. They could have made a lot more, but that woudl require immediate investment.

comment Recording Debit/Credit Card Details at the start of a 'Free Trial'?
No - it is a cynical money making practice, that seriously puts me off products that I might otherwise take. Yes it is poor UX, but then it makes money for nothing, so who cares....

Ooops sorry @Hisham

Lets just change things is rarely a good start to any design change.

comment How to set up a “war room”
It may be a culture difference, but I would agree here that this is a think-tank, not what I would call a war room. Getting the name - and the implied expectations - right is critical. Of people think it is brainstorming and it is crisis management, or vv, then they will be confused.

comment Use of Website Category Landing Pages
Sites I have worked on tend to have them. That does not mean they are a good idea. The best option is if you can find something worthwhile to put there, without it taking you a lot of work. And I agree that taking you to the first entry is not a good option.

comment Is there any research into the cost of switching between using a keyboard and a mouse?
Perfectly valid but very dated. I think that if repeated today, the results may be different, because most users are more used to workign between the mouse and keyboard.

comment Where can I read more about how the brain utilizes patterns?
One of the reasons you can find no more, I believe, is that we don't know. Issues like how we store patterns, how we match them, how we respond to matched patterns are all less well understood. What is clear is that pattern matching is critical in our interpretation of the world.

comment How to determine Internet usage experience
My immediate reaction is that you are asking the wrong thing. If you can explain better what in terms of internet usage is important to your determination of your site, then youo will have clearer questions to ask.

comment What to consider a click?
@Barfieldmv - absolutely. There is validity in actioning things on mouse downs, but not standard clicks. It is about getting the action to appropriately follow the behaviour.

comment What to consider a click?
I agree with @Vitaly - I have edited my answer to try to cover WHY it is a good UI question.

comment Pagination urls
This is SEO related, not UX. How many people actually read these URLs?

comment What do I need to know to get started as a professional UX/interaction designer?
@Pratheepch. From the side of having interviewed people for positions, it is clear when someone has got the things they need for the interview, and when they have actually got the experience. I think you are completly right, but also having some real life examples ( even if they are spare time examples ) showing your skills is a winner. IME.

comment How to best ask for computer experience in a survey?
I didn't mean just for these. And the weights would differ between different user bases. It is about asking people what they use, and interpreting this to give the groups that are needed.
