comment Fixed height web pages and e-learning
OK, point made, and I think you have a very good point in this. However, the other side is that if the interactions cannot be squeezed into the space you have, might they not be too complex? But I think you have a very valid point here, and one that you may need to make more loudly - and make sure people know that you have understood my point about ensuring that the content is presented as the provider expects.

comment Does “ink is expensive” apply in a user interface context?
I agree - I was just struggling for the right word. The principles are the same however - if it is not needed to convey information, it should not be there. And, of course, the paper also expresses information, by the lack of ink on it. So every pixel is precious.

comment What's the best way to handle deleted user accounts on a social app?
I would endorse the comments that you need to ensure that personal information is removed, whatever you do. Exactly what may depend on what they signed up to. But this could be done periodically on all marked users.

Definately mark as Deleted User - especially in a discussion forum, so that other know they will not get any more responses. And markign the user like this should be straightforward coding wise - no thread searching required.

comment Preventing impossible clicks
That is one of the occasions when it is OK. It is probably better to manage the links - remove the link while keeping the text - but it is acceptable because we partly expect this.

comment Common pattern for “multiple fields, at least one required”
This style would be my preferred approach. the asterix ( which is a known indicator ) then is seen to relate to the whole group. Grouping is often a good idea.
