I am a web developer based in London. I used to be a UX designer, but those days are long behind me.

comment Is it better to represent simple labeled information as table or just text with subheadings?
Placing labels above text fields is only recommended when a user need not scan the form to locate specific fields. It is not recommended otherwise, and probably wouldn't perform best when a design needs to communicate kinship between the items. Be very, very wary of mis-applying ergonomics "recommendations" from one context to another.

comment Does culture affect UX best practises?
Whilst interesting, I think this is too broad a question to answer in its current state. Perhaps if you rewrote it to ask what kinds of differences a designer should immediately look out for when internationalizing a product?

comment Is there a nice way to deal with geo-restricted access?
Is it really that horrible? Okay, 'click here' is a bit suboptimal, but the concept seems correct - there's no point the user continuing, so a splash page is appropriate as the error isn't localized to a single piece of content.

Can you provide any evidence that this effect is common and that it affects behaviour?

Re-tagged; 'gui design' tag should be deprecated

comment What is the best method to undo an action?
This is broadly what I'd post. The only thing I'd add is that it'd be nice to visually express the movement from one list to another - possibly a transition towards the side of the 'done' tab.

comment Get results over time without JavaScript
@Julien - the only way I know of to get the page to autorefresh without js is with http-equiv, but that will cause the page to re-render every few seconds, which can be quite jarring. I would suggest the 'refresh' button instead, personally.
