How fast does autocomplete need to be for a good user experience? For what it's worth JQueryUI autocomplete has a default delay of 300ms which can be reduced for local data. Also consider interaction with screen readers - eg aria-autocomplete options. |

How to search/filter long lists that incl. tree structure and flat structure? Yes that could be handled in a modal dialog - as would be common with a file selection dialog anyway. The Mac OSX file chooser often uses the last column to show attributes of a selected file and you could do the same for a selected group. |

Does a large UX team tend to spoil a design? My personal experience is from an independent freelance UX/UI role working either with teams who have no other UX people, or who already have a UX guy, or even an org with a whole UX team (usually with a UX Director). In the cases where there are already UX people, we work together to educate others, undertake research, and share not just knowledge but also generally a shared passion, which only helps to achieve goals. Typically external UX people bring breadth of experience and internal UX people bring domain expertise, and it works - in my experience. |

What is the technical term or common name for this widget? Well that's a combination of functional elements there, rather than one single component, but maybe this might help?: What's the official name of concept of input boxes with tags? |

Best practice for switch with interchangeable on/off position? Some button components hide the physical state of the button by the exposed button cap being lightly sprung so that it always returns to it's original appearance. Under the cap, the contact is physically open or closed, but all the user knows (and needs to know) is that you press the button to get it into the opposite state that it is currently in. Is that the sort of thing you need? |

Should search parameters be re-used on page re-load +1 for mentioning the search url. If search results can be accessed via a url, that answers the question right away. If no search criteria in the url then you have to make assumptions about what the user wants and it surely won't be correct 100% of the time. |
