comment Can you grey out items in a flat UI design?
In my opinion greyed out/disabled state is not directly against the flat or minimal design concept, which advocates for removing unnecessary elements. In general flat design is about keeping everything simple and you can certainly have a simple disabled button (without drop shadow/extra style decorations).

comment Current Web Applications with bad user interfaces
It'll be great if you can provide more context on why you require examples of bad user interface.

comment Mobile filtering data with different views
Can you elaborate more on the user content? Are there other types of contents besides photos? It'll help to have a bit more context/mockups on the app you are designing.

comment Site payment widgets
It'll be great to see some screenshots of these framed-in widgets compare to the rest of the site design.

comment Simple implementation for search operators (Begins with, Contains, = etc.)
I think "Beings with" overlaps with the functionality of "Contains" so it's more or less an overkill for a name search. I'm not sure what the context is for you but generally users know the name of the person they're looking and "Beings with" is an advanced search setting which can probably be hidden within the "advanced search" link. Again, it'll help with more context on how the search is used.

comment Dilemma: dropdown design with active link and active sub elements
Can the list be collapsed? If not, then you can replace the dropdown arrow with some other visual elements because the arrow usually indicates a toggle. Instead of using "All Sports" within the sub view (I think that's what you're describing), you can make the top level "All Sports" to begin with. In addition, you can eliminate the indentations so that "All Sports" is on the same level but contains the rest of the sub sections.

comment Dilemma: How to write technical specifications before the research?
You won't be able to write a detail specification before you conduct a research. You should break the agreement down (as mentioned above) or leave out the technical specifications as part of the agreement.

comment Usability issue with horizontal scroll bars and page scrolling
Just like to clarify, is mouse scrolling wheel the main issue because it scrolls both horizontally and vertically at the same time?

comment Do I need to inform the user that a view on an iPad app is loading
Also it'll be nice to have error message if the app fails to load the content for whatever reason (no wifi...etc.) so that the users know how to resolve the error or try again later. Otherwise showing the users an infinite loading screen is just as bad as the blank page.

comment Paid subscription through social signup?
Agree with previous comments, the subscription type logic should not be tied to how the users sign up/login. This is more of a data structure suggestion but all forms of sign up should create the same user record in the database and the subscription type should be part of the user data.

comment Is it realistic to learn UX design and web development at the same time, on top of school?
Yep, I was in a similar boat. What I found helpful was to not invest to a big chunk of time on top of your school study but to continuously learn both subjects in small chunks (that should be adjusted according to your school work load).

comment Best practices for multiple buttons
I'd emphasize 'cancel' over 'delete' since delete is more destructive. If you user deleting search results is not your concern then I'd emphasize both 'cancel' and 'delete' equally.

comment Chose a person from a list of ~10000, with 1 optional filter by group (~1000 groups)
When you have as many as 1000 items to filter through, it's better to include search functionality, especially when users know who they are looking for.

comment Should I display the “Required” field legend?
I like the idea of marking the optional fields instead of required field since the required field seems forced. What are your thoughts on the option field style by the way, in terms of color, shape or location?

comment Should I display the “Required” field legend?
Just to fill in some background for my specific case, I have a service estimate request form that requires one or two important information (contact info), but it'll greatly increase the accuracy of the estimate if more detail is provided. Therefore I'd love to encourage the user to enter more information on top of the required field.

comment Do I have three levels of content, or can I reduce it to two?
Perhaps just type out list of the first level and sub level navigation links as you described? Might be easier if we know exactly what type of contents you are trying to organize.

comment What is the purpose of having unique URLs for each customer?
Does "unique url" usually refers to something like panel.serviceprovider.com/uniqueurl1 ? The url structure you described is subdomain if I understood it correctly.

comment How to showcase UX work?
Thanks for the comment @JohnGB. I was more interested in your view on what to display as Rachel pointed out. I can put up a portfolio site in any CMS or just static web pages. But how do you make sure your portfolio showcase the UX part of your skill rather than just the UI/graphic design.
