Backend Order Status colours - any ideas on best practice? We have been colour coding spreadsheets, wall-planners and more for a long time without anyone complaining about the colours - they do not have to be psychedelic, pastel or any other scheme you might dismiss with a trite 'obviously'. No I do not think a new scheme of what-is-that icons is really going to help explaining to staff what to do or helping them process orders. |

With a webpage 'Contact Us' form should I set the input focus to the 'Your Name' box? Thank-you for the update regarding mobile devices. Too many tutorials online about simple forms overlook usability and go for pretty styling as what matters. This attitude also is present with my colleagues and with accessibility+mobile discussed here I can fully reason auto-focus and other usability matters that some can discard as of no requirement. |

How do you design a registration form? Good points, but for a registration form? You want them to have the whole page read out top to bottom or straight to the form? The internet is all about speed, doubly so if you have accessibility problems. "is typically seen as a universal usability no-no" - could you be any more vague? That is asserting a viewpoint from on high and not the reasoned discussion that SE is for. |
