comment Domain strategy from a UX perspective?
I must say that Googles branding of products through domain names confuses the hell out of me - using many of their services and having to remember URLS / brand names for analytics, adwords, gmail, docs etc not all of which are accessible from a central account page results in a few minutes each time I switch service to look something up.

comment What do you include in a site inventory report?
I could have added a similar screen shot. To add get used to using the indent cell format that can then automate the ref numbering using scripts. It takes a long process but almost always pays dividends in the end.

comment UX impact of standard stock photos
I was at mediaPro earlier this week, the CX manager from Belron was speaking about their multi-variant testing (they've done many 1000's of tests) for the brand known as Autoglass in the UK - the outcome - stock photos perform badly when compared to pictures of their staff. There is a case study on econsultancy (econsultancy.com/uk/reports/…) but I'm not sure if it contains this detail as it's mobile focused.

comment What is the standard icon for “smartphone” and "old-fashioned phone?
OK so those icons are those for the OS's you're going to support, that keeps them clear and simple. Apps are written for each device, however if you mean a mobile site then if its coded well and uses device detection you should aim to offer an experience for all.

might be useful to explain why you'd want to do this? If I've a phone it can make calls and most likely has the ability to access the internet so in the users mind they are one in the same - their phone is no different to someone else's.

comment Should we always make every Link/Button atleast 44X44 size in Mobile site, According to iOS Human Interface Guidelines?
My thoughts exactly, I know its good practice, but other than maybe help how many users look at the legal / privacy stuff anyway?

comment Are carousels effective?
@Alex G and zzzzBov - The type of client you refer to often needs to witness first hand the implications of their requirements or stubbornness on the site that they are responsible for. Sources and citations that contradict the norm or go against what the 'competition do' hold little weight. To disregard what is seen to be the norm is usually quite uncomfortable for the person who's career is directly related to the success of a product or service. Of course in some situations a carousel is exactly the right means to deliver content and so we need to try and importantly test every situation.
