I've seen this happening in password inputs, maybe it is the only situation you need to change it all (because the user doesn't see what's changing)

The problem with tabs it's that it doesn't convey a workflow. You need to expresselly indicate that there is a before and a next: multiple steps form. See this Q: ux.stackexchange.com/questions/3454/…
