A man with far too many questions trying to work out how the world works.

My primary interests are in UX and education as a whole - specifically in finding ways of improving or remaking the education system so that it is still appropriate to the world we will live in at the time that students graduate.

I take it you are talking about Massdrop. It isn't a 'should' question as much as a 'why' question.

@JonW Yes, I'm sure. Even a slow typist at about 2 characters a second without thinking about it. Try selecting something alphabetical in even that slow speed, let alone the speed of an experienced typist.

@FrankL it's not the cheapest option, but I use the camera for many more things. I've also done some work with a Canon S100 for something similar. I'll add that info to my answer.

comment Hangman game on mobile - Qwerty or alphabetical keyboard
@JonW No, it doesn't. It works on the assumption that if you're used to typing, you can find a letter faster on a keyboard than in an alphabetical listing. And that is the case.

comment When showing alert notifications, should I notify simply that “alerts exist” or give a number?
That depends on your context. Can you please give more background and show any research that you've done?

@TomDoes The only thing that would change my answer would be whether my target audience has any experience typing - which may very well be the case for small children. It may also be that it is being used to help teach alphabetical order, in which case you should obviously use alphabetical order.
