I'll be interested in seeing other's answers on this, but in general, this is the sort of thing that I would build and A/B test to see what effect it has on conversions. Every site is different, so even if this worked awesomely for Epipheo, it might fail miserably for you.

It very well might be personal preference. Especially as you had mocked it, though, I was confused by times flowing upward rather than downward. You could certainly make a vertical layout work, though. See thefemalegene.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/… as an example.

@Matteo I don't believe it's currently possible to customize the system's permission dialog on iOS, though I'm also not a dev, so you should verify. :)
