comment Benefit of custom 404 error screens on website
@cimmanon i agree that error pages can improve your visitors' experience - there's no doubt about that. My only issue was with the statement that the custom error pages improve security. Which is not true.

comment What is the best way to hide a Honeypot Captcha?
Well, to be honest, it's not really a UX question in the first place. There's no UX to a element user does not see. The answer is based on my personal experience and worked most of the cases. Also demands the least amount of effort.

saying it doesn't make it true. custom 404 pages don't help security in any way. UX yes, security no.

comment Whether the security verification code in sign-up form is user-friendly?
"user friendly captcha" is an oxymoron.

comment Should I use something else instead of “Dismiss”?
I wouldn't use modals unless it's absolutely necessarily, and in this case it's not. Modals are annoying and disruptive and i don't want to do that to my users.

comment Should I use something else instead of “Dismiss”?
That's how we found out few people are clicking. We counted how many of them see the message and how many click dismiss. I think we'll replace with "X" for a while to see if the percentage changes and even hide it automatically after a few days.

comment Should we send both username and password after registration?
so, reasons not to send would be: - the impression of lax security - sets the precedent that you can send out the password - potentially insecure

comment Are spam bots actually better than real users at solving captcha codes?
and the question that pops up: is it worth it to trouble the users with a captcha only to avoid the submissions from the 'dumb bots'?

i'm making a point on not using the damn things at all.

comment What fields to drop from the registration form?
even for B2B services, you can force the other data you need from the user after he uses the UI for a bit: "To continue using the X, you need to complete the account details here..."
