Deliberately annoying users to discourage certain behaviour. Is this a bad idea? It always depends on who the users will be. E.g if the software is a mail server and the user of the administration interface is an administrator then security measures should be enforced on the users. Because if not then all the end users will complain pretty soon because the server got hacked and their email stolen. (e.g. because the admin password was very weak.) But I agree with you on consumer products and software for general usage. |

Why at some web are pages always from 1,2,3 … for newest messages? Then you could have the "problem" that the start page has just one message because a new page has just been started. For a first time user it could not be easily clear that there are 912 other pages with content. But when he/she sees already a list of e.g. 10 messages it is clear that there could be more. |

When did 1024x768 become the standard desktop screen resolution? @iterationx The problem with your answer is that it is not complete enough. There is no clear link between XGA and 1024×768 only by reading your answer. Not everyone wants to follow your link. |
