Display input text that exceed input width Thank you @Salman, I should have made that clear in my answer to begin with. |

Responsive design on desktop You have a very good point. As a user, if I resize a window slowly and see it change it is ok and I do not get confused. But if I visit the web site the first time with a very wide window and later visit the same web site with a narrow window and receive a totally different rendering, I would be very confused. |

What approaches are there to learn design, coming from a development background? What about web design excites you, what aspect of web design is causing this burning need inside of you? |

Isn't all user testing essentially a way of gathering how people think things should work? I think the answer to your question of "Isn't all user testing essentially a way of gathering how people think things should work?" is YES. Building things that work exactly how a significant portion of potential users expect them to work is the goal of user testing. |

Isn't all user testing essentially a way of gathering how people think things should work? I don't think that "gathering opinions or perceptions" is user testing, it is user interviewing. User testing is more along the lines of giving the user a task and observing how successful they are at completing that task. I ask them to think out loud so that I can have an idea of what they are thinking and where they are going, but I ignore any comments that are opinions, comments, or suggestions. |

Input form label alignment top or left? In the user testing that I recently completed there was no discernible difference between top and left alignment. Right alignment of labels was not tested. I chose to recommend top alignment to increase the room available for internationalization and to allow for more 'help' text that could go between the label and the input field. |

Should I use a timer on a registration page to reserve seats? I agree, display the countdown timer. I would suggest having the actual timeout be a second or three after the timer shows that time is up. I also suggest not relying on JavaScript pop-ups for messaging. |

Should breadcrumb menus ever be two lines? Since "Current Page" is not going to be a link why not name it "Product," or "Acme Super Blue...," or "Product Details," etc... |
