Not currently but I was thinking of offering choices upon press of the play button. Something like 1 hour, 3 hours, or indefinitely.

+1 great example and interesting because time can expressed in both relative and absolute values.

I have already implemented a gcal like calendar for scheduling playlists. However on another screen I have a list of playlists with a play button next to each and I think that people don't understand that playing that playlist would override the currently scheduled playlist.

@Padrig I would think some simple coach marks would solve that hopefully.

Thank you for your pretty comprehensive answer. I upvoted others that answered my question about the start over button. Some other things I learned about using the iPad as a kiosk: 1) Turn off the screen auto-lock 2) Turn off multitouch gestures so that they can't escape the kiosk app 3) Turn off ask to join wifi network just in case

Thanks for your answer. I didn't think about the start over button helping the next person in line to restore the machine to it's default state.

comment Are there any good resources about designing touch screen interfaces?
I'm designing an iPad kiosk app and I agree with 'scrolling often sucks' comment except in the case of iOS devices and native apps. If you want buttery smooth scroll it's the only way to go. Andriod doesn't have it in my experience. WP7 does except there is no WP7 tablet. I don't know about the scroll experience on W7 tablets.

Not sure how much I can tell you about the specifics, I wanted this question to be more general so that others can get something out of it but it will be a informational kiosk in a service center setting.
