comment One website for multiple client resolutions
Are you using a server side coding framework (RoR, Asp.net, Php, etc...)?

comment Which is better - a summarized menu or a detailed menu?
When you are new on the site, it gives you some tips as you move along. Like when you first upvote an answer to one of your questions you get a small box that suggest you mark it as the answer as well. This box fades after a few seconds.

I see that everyone is against this. That is what I thought but I wanted your opinions before I told the client. Thanks.

comment Recommended UI/UX conference in the UK?
@Charles A UI question is something related to interfacing with a user. Going to a conference will help you become a better better UI expert but it will not fix a UI problem

comment Recommended UI/UX conference in the UK?
@Charles This question in not a UI question it is a "UI related" question. It is close enough to the topic at hand and interesting enough to the users of this site that it will not be closed, but it is not 100% on-topic. If you want to argue that this should be considered on topic write about it on Meta

@Charles this is not a UI related question. It is a question directed at the UI community. and btw "because that's how Stack Overflow does things" is a valid response IMO

I think this question is a bit more technical than this site is meant for.

comment Is there a way to disallow multiple votes from one user without forcing authentication?
you don't even need to spoof the user agent. You can just use another browser.

you mentioned 3 computers on one IP. In a corporate network you can have hundreds of computers on one public IP.

comment Recommended UI/UX conference in the USA?
I think you should add "one conference per answer" and make this community wiki.

comment Speed enhancement at the expense of not working with JS turned off
There is a gallery script that alters the page and it works slow until the images load, unless I have it load the images itself.

OK as in mediocre, not good just OK. It works but has some issues.

comment Mixing percent and fixed CSS
It doesn't matter what the example is. If you know the size of the container and the % of the elements inside, then you can simply calculate.

comment Adding USA at the top of dropdown list of countries. OK practice or not?
Although this is nice for many users it is sometimes a problem for people living abroad, so it should be used with caution.

I agree with @Dan on this one. It is ok to cater to your base.

comment Hover over a disabled item to know why it's disabled. What do you think?
That would be a wasted click. I would find that annoying.
