Do user experience practitioners ever have to worry about code? As Erik Reppen comments, it is a flip side that the UX designer might think something is not possible based on some basic coding knowledge, while a good programmer see possibilities to implement a better design. It is better to do as tpg2114 say; let the designers and programmers work together, so the designers can create a stunning design, and the programmers can give live feedback on how this is feasible or not. See this answer for more depth. |

Should we re-think the use of the word “Save” @AndroidHustle: "Put data on hard drive" would be a move in the wrong direction. When I say context specific actions I'm talking about what kind of task the user is working with, not the technical stuff that is actually happening in background (which is not really relevant to the user). |

Save icon, is the floppy disk icon dead? @CharlesBoyung: Why does this look like a download link? Because it is commonly used as such. This is why also the floppy works as a save icon; it is common use. |

Save icon, is the floppy disk icon dead? @ferrarifan: Good point. The icon itself is not saying it clearly, so it needs a text to specify what it does. |

In Excel, how do you make it clear that a pane is frozen? Brilliant and simple. - And to be honest, I like that you did it without having to use any script-functions - just plain UI. |

Why do light switches find themselves OUTSIDE the room they light up in some European countries? @Macros: For bathrooms, it's a security issue, as wet environment have higher risk of short-circuiting if not appropriate isolated. Switches are hard to isolate properly, because there are moving parts involved. |

Save icon, is the floppy disk icon dead? No. The floppy disk itself is dead, but not the floppy disk icon representing save. |

What icon to use for archive and for restore? @RogerAttrill: An arrow out of the archive is quite clear to me that it doesn't mean delete. A traditional "open" icon is often a folder with an arrow out of it, but you never think of it as "delte from folder", right? |

How can the classic footer elements be integrated into an infinite scrolling layout? The ability to link to a specific position can be solved by permalinks, as you have for each answer on all the SE sites (the "link" under each answer). |

How should the Global Network Auto-Login on SE work? I think this is answered as appropiate to your question at MSO. It is even explained why it is like it is, and that your request is declined. |

How do you use an icon to represent 'click once' (not twice) Just note that the "hand" cursor is declared in css as cursor:pointer;. Do not use cursor:hand;, as this is not standard, and supported by only some browsers. |

Making voted discussion replies stand out instead of sorting them in order to avoid breaking chronological order I don't know of any. I just got the idea for improvement when I looked at your example. |

Progressive disclosure techniques to allow advanced simplicity for web apps? @James Khoury: I think Notification bar is a decent name for that, although I find that the bar that pops up on the Stack Excange sites across the top is a very good description :-) |

Which is a good method for delete without confirmation? In Windows file explorer, you also have an option to not display confirmation message if you just do a normal delete (move to bin), but you do get message if you choose to delete permanent (Shift-Delete). |

User suggestions in electronic dictionary @Marco W.: The problem is that a possible contributor will not find a problem for one particular word, because he knows the translation for that word, and will never search for it (although he is a user and searches for other words). |

Save icon, is the floppy disk icon dead? To me, the icon looks like a clock radio with a green arrow indicating where to click the snooze button or something. Even though it's an alternative to the floppy disc, it's not a good alternative! |
