I see, you are asking for evidence that moving the text box when the user starts typing is confusing... Personally, I don't think that is necessary but I'm sure some expert can cite many different studies showing just that...

@3nafish Evidence to support what exactly? The fact that the search box is moving when you start typing? Just open any browser other than Chrome go to google and start typing, you'll see for yourself. Evidence that some users cannot touch type? Asking for that would be funny...

A and C are only true if you are using Google Chrome. As I mentioned, with all other browsers they actually move the search text box to the top of the screen when you start typing... fire up FF, IE, Opera or any other browser and you'll see for yourself. The fact that their search works different in different browsers is an additional violation of UX principles IMO.
