I am a senior in high school. I am experienced in programming in PostScript, and I enjoy creating random things that catch my interest. I have built a furnace for casting metal, I have my own ShopSmith (a ShopSmith is a combination table saw, drill press, lathe, disc sander, and horizontal boring machine), and I am very good with my hands. I play minecraft, and am a member of the Redstone Development Foundation, a group dedicated to creating contraptions and the like within minecraft.

comment Changing navigation based on task completion?
There is another issue inherent in that sort of 'wizard' design: user enters info, user moves on to next task, user realizes they entered wrong info, user cannot find the original page.

comment Alternatives to range sliders for small, finite input lists
Why do you say that having 2 and 4 but not 3 is invalid? Surely it can't be invalid if that is actually what the user wants. (Perhaps they need to have either 3 or 5 bedrooms so their four kids either each have their own room or have exactly one roommate.)

Yes. Put those users in their place. The internet exists to serve us technology gods, not mere mortals like them.

comment Why do users search for URLs?
@Peter Normally, I think the URLs are pasted, rather than typed.

Although the best solution is actually "don't impose these restrictions on your users".

comment How to clearly state to the User what characters are valid
Personally, I would really like it it if it just said "Your username must match the pattern `insert-relevant-regex-here`," because then there is no ambiguity about allowed characters, Unicode, allowed lengths, or any weird restrictions that some sites seem to like. Unfortunately, most users do not know regular expressions, so this is unlikely to ever happen.

comment “New” vs. “Create”
Now we just need a word starting with a C that we can substitute for "Paste"...

comment Should I unsubscribe uninterested mailing-list members?
At least in the US, if you were to unsubscribe from a mailing list, and were then sent even a single email beyond the 'unsubscription notification' one, you get to sue their ass off for $16,000 per message as specified in the CAN-SPAM act. Most businesses are not willing to risk that for some stupid promotional messages.

comment Why did early telephones use a rotary dial instead of 10 individual buttons?
@RobertB you don't even need to tap the handset cradle; I've managed it once just by clicking my tongue into the receiver.

@Chris although I can see what you mean; mods probably do have some sort of moderator ID associated with the password because of that.

@Chris but it is not a login! Guessing that someone uses p@$$w0rd as their password does not mean they know whose password it is, the same way guessing that a post was posted with a particular deletion password tell you what posts it allows you to delete.

@zero298 thanks, I've edited my post to include that, as well as the way moderation works.
