comment Best way to represent bulleted lists in a text file
unified tab/space indents per nest? use a visual delimiter for bullets: -> or - for bullets, numbers remain. If a list is going to plaintext, it's likely that compatibility/size are more important than presentation

comment Which phrase is better: “Sort chronologically” or “Sort by date”?
+1 I absolutely agree with Newest First or Last, but would disagree with the use of "Sort by newest". As a native English speaker (admittedly an engineer), this doesn't readily state its intention if you allow forward/reverse ordering. "newest" implies newest records on top while sort by implies ability to reverse this ordering. I would prefer "Sort by Date" over "Sort by Newest". My 2 cents

comment Do people find someone in a list faster by name or a profile picture of the person?
While I am intrigued to learn this, I think it doesn't really help the objective as much: finding a person in a list. Unless faces can be sorted (the research you provide may eventually actually lead to that, who knows), there is simply no advantage to pictures in terms of search speed because of the "sortable" nature of names, correct?

ah sorry +1, must have skipped your answer somehow while reading, though i suppose specifying a sorted list couldn't hurt.
