An admittedly pedantic comment: the Bootstrap default color scheme assigns green to success, red to error, yellow to warning, etc. The color scheme is configurable (see getbootstrap.com/customize/#variables-form-states).

comment Alternatives to the progress bar
How about a progress "pie chart"? Easy to accomplish using canvas on client-side, and could be styled in so many creative ways (like a real pie being eaten as you get closer to 100% done).
