Can you not use the real numbers? '450 deposit. 450 before, 900 after transfer' is clear you are gaining 450 dollars.

This was mentioned by the OP in the question. The full tank should be harder to press (perhaps smaller) because it is the most expensive action.

Public restroom users would never take the time to 'check' and re-flush. They hit the button and are gone. Leaving the unpleasants to the next user. :)
