comment Is there any reason to send “no-reply” emails?
I'm a web developer myself, and I get the gist of what you mentioned. But it is pretty standard to set different emails for From and Reply-to headers. The Reply-to address could be a real email address capable of receiving emails. When sending emails, it's useful to make it possible for the site software to dynamically change the from email address without having to store real SMTP/IMAP account details.

comment Is it better to use a Yes/No question or offer the actual values?
The "modern" approach is 100 times better. People are used to public/private words these days thanks to facebook, github, etc.

comment Why do showers have “hot” and “cold” knobs rather than “temperature” and “quantity” knobs?
5 answers and no up/down votes. +1. Separate hot and cold controllers are also helpful to provide hot water for multiple rooms. In some countries, there are solar powered water heaters, and a "hot" line goes throughout the building. It's always in the same higher temperature. Mixing up regular line (which is cool) at the very end of the shower can save the temperature of the hot line.

comment Should “Deletion successful” confirmation be red, or green?
Rejecting a date with Kate Upton is a deadly error though :)

comment Should users be allowed to use any special character they want when creating a password?
If there is a password character restriction, there is a very good chance that they are storing your password unhashed.

comment Why do some users complete forms all in capital letters?
This is, IMO, the closest reason. I worked with a home care site that works mostly with the elderly people. It's just they way they are used. Changing fields other than email, username, name, etc to proper case fixed that problem and everyone was happy about it.

comment Why are error codes on websites shown as “404 Not Found”
OP is asking why we show the error code. Not about showing a themed page or not.

comment How to clearly state to the User what characters are valid
Showing all characters you don't allow in the first attempt would work better. imgur.com/AEoYUTJ

comment Do email placeholders affect anything, and which kind should I use?
"Explicitly addressing users with "you" transfers ownership.". Great point!
