comment actual effects of “bozo room” anti-sock-puppet strategy
sheer greatness! I've heard of different strategies – but not yet of the Bozo Room. Will share this with colleagues and ask, if anybody has experience with this strategy…

comment Is Responsive Design good for web based software?
Sorry, but that I don't know – I only wanted to point out, that your question actually consisted of three questions. Maybe you should asj the 3rd question again in a seperate thread…

comment Is designing in photoshop a thing of the past?
I sure know what you mean – and I use firebug just the same way – a lot – and I love it. And in my original answer I tried to mention that since I pointed out that you can actually use web based services or plug ins to actually design in a browser –– but I would consider this an exception and in my optinion this also does not make photoshop obsolete. Maybe you and I (and many others) don't need to use photoshop – but I would still consider it industry standard. If the question would have been "can I use firebug" then the correct answer probably would have been "yes you can".

comment Sign up for a company network with LinkedIn using a deleted account
Ok – so if that is the scenario, why worry? In the linkedin sign-up process you just have to make clear, that also that email adress has to be valid because the system is going to send out a validation mail… If sombeode still sings up but never confirms – then that's an invalid account. Or am I missing something?

comment Is designing in photoshop a thing of the past?
Well - sorry for nitpicking, but then you're actually designing in a text (or code) editor and checking the rsults in a browser. I also like that approach myself – but instead of calling it "designing in a browser" – I would prefer "drawing by numbers".

comment When does a prototype become alpha software?
I totally agree with you – even though my 'reality' looks a bit different. But I guess there are also many differences whether you work on Software or Websites (which actually allow a more fluid transition from prototype to alpha) and whether you work for a big agency or self employed etc.

comment How to design an interface for planning and booking itineraries
I'm sorry, but your question feels a bit spam-ish – or at least as if you're asking for a review –– the 'wireframe' resembles quite exacly what already can be found on the (linked) website. Also: check your description meta-tags –– currently google displays "The qTranslate Editor has disabled itself because it hasn't been tested with your WordPress version yet…" where your meta description should be (underneith the link in google SERP).

comment How should I offer instant discounts in response to user actions?
In my opinion your question is way too vague to expect any useful 'answers' to it. What kind of inventory? What kind of rating? What plan could one upgrade? And then: considering you first would have to be rating several items, then upgrade some plan – and only then you would give a 10% discount – all this together does not sound like you would need to have "instant offers"? Maybe you can explain a bit further, what type of a business modell this would be?

comment Is there a better way to design switches than I/O?
+1 and I would like to add that 1 can also mean "yes" and 0 accordingly "no" interpreted in binary code

+1 for your effort - and I would give another +1 if I could for the joy watching the two racing each other - and on my slow connection the first bar is always the faster one (lol)

i think it actually depends on the context – can you add a little more details about what the caousel will show? how many items? product presentation or news? etc?

comment Small form, big page
The question is not referring to a web page, or is it? Just asking for clarification because responsive web design (as mentioned in one of the answers below) might not be an option here..

And for the first question: it's Wireframing Tool or Mockup Tool and there's great variety of both free and commercial programs out there

comment Media player and accessibility, beyond the big buttons
i have no idea why there's a downvote, since I find this really a difficult yet interesting question --– maybe "speech recognition" and/or gestures could be some alternative approach – or?

comment Present a map of the company locations to establishes trust amongst first time visitors?
@DA01 I was having the key words "high price commercial equipment" and "that the company is reputable" in my mind - for me a map using company CI-Elements such as colors and fonts would be most convincing

just my two cents: be sure to have the map branded (CI) and don't use gxxgle maps or any other 'free' tool

comment Best Practice for video start image
Thank you for your quick reply! Since the usage would be in a news related context I would definitely vote for accuracy, but 'the client' wants clicks… Now I'm basically looking for pointers / arguments / research results / best practice guidelines that could support my argumentation…:)
