Best way to distinguish between completed and in-progress items in data grid As for now, circle progress is much better than progress bar - more simple and more contemporary. |

What is the best way to represent the difficulty level in a children's game? @DA01 This is usual or natural order of learning personal transport. As well as age restrictions for beginning to use it. |

How to conduct user research in a highly constrained environment with private/protected data? Could you please clarify what methods you are going to use besides interviews and surveys? Do you know them and only need to fight with constraints? Or you ask to advise you such methods? Also, could you tell in more details what do you study - how physicians fill their papers or how they analise information to diagnosis? Or even what motions surgeon makes during his knife? |

Login/register: How to balance ease-of-use, number of clicks, and appearance? Of course we should take into account all these risks. But SignUp form much more dependent on content of the site than Login form. Google mail, as well as most others, has SignUp link (Create account) invisible relatively to Login form. From the other side, every hosting provider has 5 huge SignUps and just little Login link somewhere in up right corner of webpage. This is your responsibility to properly define most valuable function for your site. But it's hard to find situation where both of them are equally important. |

Where to place registration form and its contents in page horizontally? This form will be good when located at the very center of the page. My opinion for presented layout. |

How to calculate the best width of a text element @kontur In a few words on how exactly this could be done. In the question there is sample phrase with 5 words. It could be arranged in 16 ways (or so). Regarding on each word's width, space width, word's height and vertical space between words, one can choose a combination which is closest to golden ratio. Maybe it will work for this case, why not? |

How to calculate the best width of a text element Try to use golden ratio (golden section) as default. But you should decide what drives - width or height. |

What's more readable, reading an ordered list vertically or horizontally? please clarify if you have no requirement to avoid horizontal scrolling, which is disaster in mobile world. if you have such requirement so you are limited with your application window width. even in such case it's hard to calculate column number because you need to do it using real text width. in other words you are dependant of window width but not of abstract ratio between columns and rows. |

Popover vs Modal to display a map BTW, there is one more option - map could occupy separate place on a page outside item list depending on page layout, e.g. to the right from items list. Of course in such case one should make something to prevent map location from scrolling out. |

Popover vs Modal to display a map In such case I think modal window is better choice because user need not do something else in parallel with map exploring. |

Should I display a “not available” option in my key, even when I know it will never be used @Urbycoz: Sorry, I didn't notice. In such case my answer means that I agree with your customers that red status should be removed. Maybe this looks consistence from programming point of view, but looks unacceptable from business point of view. Also, absence of this status is not misleading because user still have option to do something, and with red status you tell him that he has nothing to do - this is not right because he can call local depot. |

Should I display a “not available” option in my key, even when I know it will never be used @Mervin: Thanks, this is a problem. So we can update functionality and display 'CALL' during working hours. At other time we can not display this product at all or display e.g. 'CONTACT US'. Or leave 'CONTACT US' constantly. The idea is to display possible action, of course maybe there is much better another wording. |

Collecting Information for Project Management System from non Computer Workers It seems that you need to update your timesheets system adding necessary data. Adding one more system definitely results in negative reaction from personnel. |

Tooltips to shorten your content Sorry for misunderstanding the question. I should clarify that in fact my answer endorses idea of reducing visual content and expanding it in some way. Also I offer another possible solution which seems to me more reasonable than tooltips. |
