What do you put in a country list for countries with more than one common name? Yep, I agree with Roger that you should find out first why you need to know where your users are from to find out what granularity is required. Other questions are: do you need to know where they usually live or where they currently are, or where their postage address or billing address is? |

Evaluation period with or without license key? Tracking the conversion rate could simply be the number of downloads (and some smarts could be built-in here to keep track where they download from) vs new paid licenses. An evaluation license key is not going to provide much more info I reckon and as both yourself and Marielle pointed out, maximize the try-ability by reducing obstacles. |

What's a clean way to implement two checkboxes that can be “ANDed” or “ORed”? If it is clearer now, now worries at all :) |

What's a clean way to implement two checkboxes that can be “ANDed” or “ORed”? Yep, this would work and I tend to agree with Bevan's statement that users are often confused with the result ANY vs OR will actually give them. This takes me back to question whether you really need to be able to drill down to only those people with "Dogs AND Cars", because this is the requirement causing the 2 check box solution to be insufficient? Its a bit like looking for a piece of clothing on eBay and wanting to see "only" those items which are both in the Woman's Clothing AND Men's Clothing section ... then again, we don't know what in your case the Dogs and Cars represent :) |

Why would a web site hide the log out button? Saying that many sites use OpenID does explain why the logout button is hidden and that this practice is common for sites which do not require a high level of security! |

Why would a web site hide the log out button? Sites that need to be secure like banking or online payments will have a clear sign out button/link and they will even sign you out automatically after a period of time. Services like Google/Facebook/Twitter etc which may serve as your identity on other sites (OpenID, OAuth) will not make it so prominent. |
