What explains the current shift from glossy UIs to matte UIs? Its the same as with cars. All cars used to have glossy or metallic paint, and then The Dark Knight came out with a matte Batmobile, and suddenly matte paint was cool. |

All capital titles: good or bad? One thing I'd like to note is that it also depends on the language. For example, all caps is very unusual in German and often looks out of place. You hardly ever see it in newspapers or contracts, where it is common in (American) English. Small caps, or all lowercase, is more natural. Software with all caps (Metro, Android) sometimes feels poorly localized to me (although many users probably won't notice). |

Why do browsers clear address bar when server could not be reached? Try it, excape just clears only the selection. The text remains (just tried it on my Mac). If you enter an URL to the address bar, press enter, and then after a second ESC, it remains too. If you press enter and then immediately ESC, it goes away. |
