Login mechanism for multiuser smart-phones/tablet If the question is having a password unique enough (as fingerprint and retina scan) would be enough having a password long enough or lets say... a signature? |

Login mechanism for multiuser smart-phones/tablet Do you easily remember a sequence of digits? Since it is a password provided by the system, you should remember it just after seeing and typing it for less than a minute. The very first thing that I (personally) do when I get a pin is changing it (and I don't share a single password between accounts) |

Login mechanism for multiuser smart-phones/tablet Oops! I missed the critical suggested by the system Sorry! Now another question: is a password suggested by the system a good UX (might be hard to remember)? |

Login mechanism for multiuser smart-phones/tablet As far as I see it, pattern lock replaces pin/password but does not solve the question of multiple users accessing the device. |

Computer login with password only, without username But OP started saying "I have an idea to simplify the login screen on things like home computers with a small number of users (say, 2-10) with passwords." there you have device / username. (Anyhow, I don't pretend to argue on this, just pointing that we are using it many times for single user devices) |

Computer login with password only, without username @JohnGB I tend to agree with the poor security and I'm sure I would not go with that idea for something that I will have to be responsible of but this is (somehow) being used in devices like phone, ipads, credit-cards,... I only need to know the PIN (password) not the owners name or phone number. So I would say that this idea is actually widespread. |
