comment Do people really want to look at multiple windows at once?
"Having more than one window opened at a time does not mean you look at them at the same time" but you can USE them at the same time. Your eye cannot focus on multiple windows at once, but your brain can. The very common example is reading form one window, and inputting to another window. Having multiple windows on screen in static positions makes it easy to glance at multiple information displays, and detect and respond to changes, without interrupting your primary workflow.
